The necessary courage in the way of solitude,
The one I see crossing the current by my side, sometimes frightens me.
It reminds me of the fragility of my boat.
It must be reassuring to get on one of these ships, where all the sailors are dressed identically and sing in unison.
I have only my voice here,
As a company
And the courage of the tathagatagharba
which slashes all heavens.

A ship with a uniform choir chanting their doctrines may seem reassuring to some.
It may seem reassuring to many, for a time.
But there is reassurance in solitude. Primarily, that the path of your boat will be your own. Not that of the choirmaster.

you’re right.
I’m done being pushed and pulled in others’ directions.
It does not seem to lead them very far, in most cases.
The rest, those who do not push neither pull others in their own directions, are a quiet and solitary bunch.
