Zazen: the beauty of the Way
The natural effort of light – beginner’s practice,
The torch set ablaze, then blown by the wind,
rekindled, fallen from our hands, rekindled again,
approached, ever closer, to the corners of the room,
flying insects,
The beginner is a senior.
The senior, a beginner,
The same spirit of honesty,
Brings them together.

Merci à tous
I take from that the sense that there is no beginner or experienced person in the exercise of one’s perception. There is just what is now.
Maybe…

Indeed, it gets even more mischievous than that: the more you think of yourself as an expert or an advanced practitioner, the less far along the path you probably are.
How wild is that?

Seems common sense to me. Those who think they know most lack the understanding of their own ignorance.
