Zazen counts years backwards
Sitting soflty sands sediments off our eyes
Dogen mentioned that time flowed from the present to the past.
What his vision was, as he uttered such a cryptic statement, I can never pretend to know.
Quite the opposite : I don’t pretend, I don’t know.
This is why I can pretend to know.
The liveliness of the past blossoms in the observer’s present eye : now he has unveiled what an absence of maturity had kept enshrined in the situation as it was then experienced,
In the moment, this experience is perfect.
It is past-present.
A past way more present than when it was lived as a past reality,
Much more alive than when it once became hoarse because of the drafts of youth.
Maturity of life
Perfection of Now
