Some people are held captive by the physical net of their nerves…
Jailed in the prison of their nerves,
Trapped behind the electric fence of their inner tension.

Some people are held captive by the physical net of their nerves…
Jailed in the prison of their nerves,
Trapped behind the electric fence of their inner tension.
I find breathing, itself, breaches that fence.

This ‘nerve cell’ can be a very physical experience,
Densifying nerve walls keeping us trapped.
Because breathing has to come and go,
reach outside to come back inside,
as a visitor, not retrained by visiting hours or jailers’ watch,
it has to hold the key.
Breathing softens those nerves, makes them flexible, almost acceptable.
