The 4 directional elements: earth, water, fire, wind
are not earth, water, fire and wind.
They reflect, through poetic evocation, a dynamic,
grainy solid, liquid fluid, hot magma, of volatile power…
That we find in every element present on earth and in our bodies.
And, they are also earth, water, fire, wind.

In certain pagan thought, there is a fifth – equates to « spirit », or, if you prefer (on the basis all of these are part of that), « pure spirit ». These can be arranged at the points of a unicursive 5 point star (pentagram) as a meditational aid by following the lines as paths between them
