A form of expression in the Quran rejoices me:
By the effect of this sentence which echoes in me – it is repeated several times through the pages that I have read with what seems to be a pleasure, a certain playfulness, even a provocation for educational purposes: « Allah does what He wills »...
He reserves the right, at any time and in any situation, to follow a pattern different from (and not necessarily opposed to) our expectations.
The order of things, the arrangement of phenomena is beyond us and God is far too great to bend to our calculations and our statistics.
He strikes the heart of Man « when He wills » and comes to light in him in whom He will have decided.
He is the Living One: He thus dances life as he sees fit: « Allah does what He wills », for He is the very principle of this life, such as a child plays when he feels like it, runs just to run and responds or does not respond to the adult speaking.
This Great Freedom of the child is in the very image of the Living One.

Actually, I am unsure how I react to this one. « God » and « the Gods » are two separate ideas for me, and I tend to regard belief or otherwise in either as an irrelevance.
