When the Quran repeats that God “hears and sees all,” it is not trying to hammer home a divine obsession with control and guilt.
On the contrary, knowing that God “hears and sees everything” is for the believer the certainty to find great comfort in God.
He knows that God hears the remorse that gnaws at him before sleep for such deed or word.
He also knows that God sees his prayer in his tent at night.
That God hears and sees everything is a reminder that, what Christians call the “Kingdom of Heaven”, has already been accomplished.
There will be no need for accounts validation in the future,
the books have already been validated.
That God hears and sees everything is a great liberation.
In the here and now, everything is already in place,
awakening, salvation is right there, within reach of every moment.
Far from being an alert, a warning, the fact that God hears and sees everything
is an invitation to abandon oneself to life, boundless faith, without wasting our energy trying to understand God and the world.
If you know that God hears and sees everything,
you can sleep in peace, because you are in God’s hands.
