Do you read silently, trying to follow the lines to their conclusion, or out loud, even though no-one else may be listening?

I read out loud…Because I’m a musician : I love the sounds of words.
But it doesn’t help me understand what I read any better.
I tend to lip-mumble : moving my lips without uttering a sound.
Like sending a secret spell, or mentally rehearsing a song or a poem.
recently I started walk-reading.
Lim-mumbling while walking.
Like an animal by the water stream, I sip a couple of sentences, then swallow them, ponder them while walking and staring at the sky.
THis, I hope, gives me an inspired appearance and, if it doesn’t concretely bring any stranger’s interest on me, apart from quizzical and puzzled expressions from mothers who grab their kids near them as they pass by me,
it does comfort a certain perception I have of myself as some kind of contemporary wandering poet.
C’est déjà ça.
Well, I cannot be serious this morning. sorry.
Let me know how YOU read, that is certainly much more interesting..
How do you read ?

Silently and swiftly, by and large. Professionally, I have to deal with a large volume of written material.
More slowly and deliberately if something takes my attention (usually poetry, or something Greek).
I believe it is thought reading aloud was commonplace in ancient times.
I have a mental image of you distracted by musing and walking into a lamp post. I’ve done that…

That is the nice version.
More commonly, it is my foot which encounters an inconvenient object…
