Jazz, bebop: listening to higher tempi….from a slow listening point,
Embracing wider…embracing from a wider perspective.
Listening to the whole thing from a further, deeper place.
No longer getting caught up in the whirlwinds of sounds, knowing they only lead to exhaustion.
Listening in the background.
Colors, layers of sounds taking shape differently…
Listening as you look at the landscape from the train.
The eyes looking just ahead keep flickering and are unable to take in the landscape as a whole.
The poorly trained ear and mind will prefer silence and empty spaces,
and will flee the forest because the vegetation there is too rich and dense.
The wide ear, the sage mind, will know how to sit from the heart of the abundant vegetation
And know the forest and beyond.

Is that a musician’s viewpoint?

To some extent, it must be.

Even though I do not have a professional (or even an amateur, now that I think of it…) professional activity,
I still consider myself a musician.
It’s like being a father, I guess.
Even though all your children are gone and you’re as far from a diaper, an evening homework, or anything that makes a parent/child discussion as can be…you never stop being a father.

I am considering learning te mandolin as an activity for my retirement. It may give a new perspective.

I recommend you start learning it now, however slowly this may be due to your professional obligations;…This will enlighten your days without the shadow of a doubt.
all light, no shadow.
except for an (eventually salutary) pain in your finger muscles.
