A great deal of what it means to sit zazen lies in this sentence : « in zazen, there’s me watching »
Before even sitting zazen, we understand this as one person.
After sitting, we realize there are actually 2 persons there.
After sitting, some more, we experience « there’s me watching » as our person.
Those three steps may occur in a single sitting session, in a split second,
or may never happen even once,
Whether you sit or not.

That is a principle I am learning to apply in my everyday relationships…and it makes my life much less frustrating.
