Disbelief-Punishment (1/2)

« Those who have not believed will suffer a vile torment »
The torment is not to believe, not to see.
This type of statement is often perceived as a warning: if not x, then y will happen.

We are so accustomed to understanding these words in this way that it has become impossible for us to approach them with a mind free of any preconception.
Such a mind does not necessarily consider things from this aspect: It may not inject « time » into them: y (the « vile torment ») is the absence of x (not to grow, not to see)

In reality, no one punishes anyone.
The Book, here, does not give a warning but makes an observation: « how lost you are when you do not see ».
The narrative detours (God will punish you if you do not believe) are the receptacles of the reader’s projections.

The mature heart can get rid of these narrative detours, the injection of temporality, that of the story that is unfolding does not occur, because it is not necessary for the awakened heart.
