Merciful Punishment

By sitting in silence, I increase my chances of finally hearing the grace behind the mind that is silent.

However, this is not a guarantee of an encounter.
The cities that God destroys here and there in the Bible are the dwelling places of an ego that reigns supreme and subjugates other egos aspiring to reign there.

These are corners of the soul where the Divine Nature can only reclaim its rights and, in this, divine destruction, rather than sovereign punishment, is the expression of mercy.
God pulls out the weeds and saves the plant and the garden. He destroys the cities of the ego, reduces them to ashes, swallows them up and thus saves a nation, an entire earth.

It is also the sense of the foot that leads to the fall and that we must seize and cut off.
Through this destruction God offers a new chance, a reset of the relationship of Man to Reality.
