Taking Zen Seriously

The first teacher that life gave me, a now retired and rebel dentist, today a ‘celestial tramp’, according to the expression,
Said to anyone who would listen, and to others, especially: « medicine is far too serious a matter to be entrusted to doctors. »
I am not convinced that it is any different with zazen, sitting meditation.

The clan of certified Zen professionals will say here that it is the voice of the tailless fox who would like all foxes to be stripped of their caudal appendage.

The freedom of one is the anxiety of another, perhaps.
And then again, deep down, this is a very useless statement.

    1. Some learnt and forgot.
I keep learning and forgetting myself…

Oh– which makes me think– I came across avery interesting notion : that of DOCIBILITAS : the ability to get taught.
To me, very close to zen’s « Beginners’ mind »..
(classic book about this written by Suzuki, I think I can send it to you if you are interested…let me know)

Docibilitas : never turning out to become the one who knows enough. Never placing ourselves in the ‘Expert’ position.
