I would say that… Hope is not in the same register as thought.. but belongs to another inner plane.
In Christian terms, perhaps it is the theological virtue of Hope. Wishing is a matter of mental activity…Hope is a deeper anchoring.
Deep down, it is Knowledge….having God as its object, it is realignment. In the present, illusions fall, have no hold and the possibility of an anchoring in the land of Hope is revealed.

This sounds, actually, akin to what I understand to be the Christian idea of hope – looking onward to a certainty.
Which, to me, either is a failing in language to distinguish sub-categories, or renders the concept of hope theologically redundant.
