“Shabbat is made for Man and not Man for Shabbat”
Rituals, practices and beliefs are tools to connect Man to the depths of his conscience,
To the source of his soul.
They are as many “reminder bells”, some very powerful, to invite him to remain there, here, in the Kingdoms.
Lent, Shabbat, Lectio Divina, Hannya Shingyo, candles and incense…
With this single sentence, Christ provides guidance, absolute teaching
so that the disciple does not get lost along the way in the superficial mazes,
in the refinements, theological arguments, the identity niches,
he provides the sword that allows one to cut through all the undergrowth that covers the entrance to the cave.

But, does this not call into question the necessity of any such ritual?

I’d try to walk a Middle Way, here…
Virtue of temperance ?
An absence of rituals may be as harmful to the soul as the excess thereof.
(I had a term in French I could not find any translation for…. »mediéité »..)
