It’s unfortunate to see that the statement « meditation is a meeting with oneself » has become a phrase used in feel-good magazines.
This contributes to making it a hackneyed statement, one of those that we no longer really listen to and whose real meaning is buried under piles of cheap certainties.
Disciples then cease to perceive the extent to which meditation is a meeting with oneself, with the divine, the source, the origin of consciousness, each meditation, each sitting, each time we join our hands, each time we strike the mallet against the bowl, each time we light the incense…
Every time we do all this mechanically, we miss an opportunity to anchor ourselves to the center of centers
and we miss out.

Might I suggest that the key to this lies in the appreciation of « all is one »? One always meets oneself, but rarely realises it.
