The mind draws inner, physical, and psychological energy to itself and consumes those in the blaze of the engine room.
Conventional use of the mind is an unfortunate use of resources.
This is why the person practicing zazen looks ahead… he observes the blaze through the glass watches the endlessly dancing flames.
Sometimes, he finds himself in its flames, suffering a thousand tortures without realizing it, too busy consuming the energies upstream.
On both sides of the glass.
This is the meaning of sarvam dukkham.
Everything is suffering.
One must have been in the blaze, then observed the flames, to realize it.
Sitting in front of the window, the bodhisattva can invite beings to another world; he can meet their gaze without melting his own skin.
Without the consciousness of this bodhisattva, at that moment, all is hell, chaos, and suffering.
