Silent sitting is necessarily the ancestral practice,
The primordial tradition,
The silence upstream of all practice, of all tradition,
This is zazen.
Everything we add to it speaks of something else, of something that doesn’t interest me.
In the chalice of this silence,
The pure wave is collected.
Religions, traditions, practices, are the drinks, the syrups from which we drink downstream.
All describe the recipe for the syrups, the list of ingredients, and completely forget the water that irrigates everything around their religions.
Whether they sip their drink
or not.

I suppose « the practice before all practices ».
One might wonder here all the unnecessary, extraneous extras came from. I suppose, from the ambition of those who sought a system in which to find preeminence.
