A sincere practice of Zen must necessarily lead to a threshold, beyond which it is impossible to continue the journey thus laden with conceptual tools, Zen, frames of reference combining culture, civilization, cosmogonic reading grids, reflexes, and linguistic tools.
All these must be laid to rest so that the pilgrimage continues with the same approach of authenticity.
The following question will then emerge: this practice, thus emptied of all these amenities, supports, and references, what is still « Zen » about it? Why does this still matter?
For one who has crossed the threshold, these are two rhetorical questions, of no importance.
He knows that because all the ingredients and habits of Zen have been emptied,
then true Zen appears.
Harmony, resolution at heart, known forever,
The inner ear smiles at him.
And to define what this Zen is beyond this threshold actually attests to the inability to truly cross it.
Zen is nothing other than the answer to the call of the center, the true one.

I am wondering if this amounts to: « the fulfilment of Zen is its annihilation ».
