One of the greatest ironies is to realize that the Zen tradition is stifled under a thousand layers of constructions around Zen.
These constructions have nothing to do with Zen.
Rediscover Zen, remove the layers of years, schools, egos, costumes, accessories, words, …
The beating heart is that of man. Under so many layers, we could no longer hear it;
The heart is what awaits you. It waits.
From your embrace, from your reunion in the brilliance of the moment, joy is born.
The contact of deep consciousness with deep consciousness, divine unity,
the bridal chamber (Song of Songs),
the treasure chamber (Huang Po)
The heart, God, Being, the Source
The ever-flowing source of eternal life.

If I understand the meaning you attach to the word « Zen » correctly, would it be more accurate to say the freedom from tradition it represents is stifled under the constructions of tradition?

Indeed.
When Zen is touched,
Zen is destroyed
From then, constructions and traditions are but a rear-view mirror perception
not even worth being discussed.
But why are we still here ?
Are residual lumps of ego glueing us to the keyborad/screen thing ?
Or is another good old thick layer of ego dripping all around ?

I suppose we may be / are here for both those reasons. The man who claims to be free from ego is the greatest hypocrite.
Ideally, we are here in the hope others who feel the need to explore this may be helped to do so. But I long since stopped being an idealist.
Perhaps we are here because, in the lonely, dark streets of a life that seeks to destroy attachments, we cannot, yet, face being quite that alone.

Blaise Pascal: “All of man’s misfortune comes from one thing, which is not knowing how to sit quietly in a room”
Maybe a Pharisee realising how much of a Pharisee he is is only half a Pharisee.
And being half a Pharisee is far from easy.

It makes one sad, you see…

Good one.

What a beautiful text. I really liked how it reminds us that, beneath so many layers and words, what remains essential is the human heart, simple and alive. That idea of returning to what is pure, to what is immediate, conveys a profound calm and a very clear truth.

Thank you Lincol,
I like the way you equate immediate with pure.
Have a very nice day.
