When Buddhists gently mock the stories of Marian apparitions, I wonder if they have truly taken note of the Mahayana sutras, which depict such a surge of supernatural phenomena, such a cascade of scintillating manifestations, that Marian apparitions pale in comparison and seem quite banal.

It strikes me as, generally, better not to say: « That was not really experienced, » but, rather: « Since that experience occurred, let’s enquire as to what it was that was experienced. »
