It is fair to argue that meditating alone is to risk being trapped within one’s own projections, without ever experiencing the favor of a fragment beyond.
Thus, the solitary meditator could remain for 50 years in his own illusions repainted in the colors of meditation.
To this, it is possible to counter that solitary meditation protects against the incessant play of mirror echoes between the projections of other members of the community.
It is possible, as is often said, that like potatoes stirred in the same container, disciples peel each other and the multiple layers of spiritual impasses fall away.
But it is also possible that a thick crust, like a layer of concrete, is created, an emanation of multiple projections beneath which the disciples converse in a total illusion while being rewarded with the appearance of an authentic journey.

Given these competing risks, I prefer to work through my own illusions than those of others.

Idealism suggests they may as well be shared illusions…
(Idealism sprinkled w/ hints of Buddhist philosophy — karma)

All of reality is just a symbol, within individual awareness, representing whatever « is ».
Each individual awareness negotiates with that of others, to create a shared, commonly understood, symbolism.
Perhaps, whatever greater awareness it is we sprang from also has its influence.
But, the fact remains. As everything I sense is a symbol, so what « is » remains hidden.
I live in a universe of illusion.
A depressing thought…

Thank you Simon for insulating such an uplifting perspective in this afternoon illusion…
