Learning a text is making it familiar,
Developing a closeness,
Learning a text is making it one’s own,
Not as an appropriation, an act of piracy,
but as a taming.
A wild text becomes my domestic text.
And as I know it,
I allow it to know me.
Learning a text is also being ready to open oneself to the text,
to let it flow, flow with all its sounds, all its senses, into our inner cave,
Learning a text is going towards the text and trusting it.
Beyond what we see, at this moment, like the healing plant, we do not maintain its mechanisms of action.

A text is an encoded thought.
Pure awareness cannot be written, I suspect.
Nor will it ever be tamed.

Would you say the same of a painting?
You’re right. Texts are frames, and the Spirit is forever free.

You ask a question that occurred to me as I wrote the comment.
I still do not know the answer.

We have a Kandinsky exhibition here these days.
I know this has been a quest for him…painting thoughts.
He also wrote a book about art and spirituality.
Which I have not read yet.
Shipping is pending…
But writing about how paintings can tell the untellable… Leaves me …wordless.
Which is, in itself, a performance.

Paintings… express and encode the reactions of the heart, beyond what thought may express…
I think…

I believe the painter meant ‘thoughts’ as inner movements..
Not as mere cognitive activity.

I have the « thought » that mere illustrates the limitations of language.
