The absence of dilation of the heart is a reliable criterion for the withering of the path we are on.
Dilation of the heart is not exaggerated sentimentality. The latter would correspond more to a consequence (through a faulty compensatory artificial production mechanism) of non-dilation of the heart.
By dilation, I mean the absence of the feeling of oppression, of narrowness. This feeling of oppression appears when the natural function of the heart, which is to dilate, is inhibited.

The natural function of the heart is to pump.
Each dilation follows, and is followed by, contraction.
A heart that does not dilate cannot contract.
A heart which does not contract and dilate dies.
Is this the same, esoterically? The alternation of wide, expansive consciousness with narrow, personal awareness?
