Sound, like water, is a carrier of information.
And just like water, information that is not objectifiable, quantifiable, or conceptualizable as such at a given moment can very well be found at the heart of information that is.
That is to say, there is a register of information that, relative to « gross » information, is meta-informational.
Thus, sound carries harmonic and melodic information, data relating to timbre and rhythm, while on an informational level, sound carries the information with which the intention, the state of being, the inner reality of the performer-sender infuses the natural sound.
The same is true for the luthier, the composer, the audience… for all of them, sound is the vehicle, and music emanating from calm, enlightened minds will be a bearer of peace and light. Since, by definition, this dimension lies beyond the reach of language, it ultimately remains ineffable.
From all this arises a “memory of sound” for which sound is both the container and the vehicle.
Like the water we drink, sound travels deep within our structures
and deposits shaping information.
Thus, sound heals through what we reductively call “frequencies,” when in fact it is not limited to frequency characteristics.
The recitation of mantras is particularly rich and effective on an informational level, since the intention, the instrument, the sound produced, and the receiver are all one.
