The Fuel of Attention

Mental activity determines our relationship to, and our experience of, the world.

Observing mental activity, whether in detail (following a thought) or as a whole (the mind as a gesticulating entity), reveals the impossibility of serene existence from this mental sphere and poses the fundamental question: who is the observer?

One must then be driven by the spirit of the adventurer, a blend of courage and pragmatic experimentation.

What is this center ? Can we inhabit it ? Can we not inhabit it ?
What becomes of thoughts when we cease to inject the fuel of attention ?

One element of the answer is this: they lose the power of determination they once held over what constitutes/will constitute our lives.

A great defusing takes place.
