Nisagadarta Maharaj:
“To be born is to create a world around oneself as the center.”
Thus, the child’s developmental process would not be one in which the curve of the individual’s consciousness gradually converges with the line of objective reality, but rather a phenomenon of refining the creative capacity of consciousness.
In this second possibility, at no point does an objective world exist.
It is a matter of an ever more convincing creation, an ever more rapid and skillful fabrication (manufacture/mind-facture) at weaving illusion.
According to this second possibility, the world around me would be an illusion of which I am, at a certain level, the designer and craftsman,
An illusion that creates ever more of an illusion.
Aging, as a perpetually ongoing process, would be the occasion to observe the decoupling between the fabrication and the product, made possible by a consciousness-craftsman that is becoming less and less skilled. A second decoupling then occurs between the level of consciousness, which observes the increasing failure of this mechanism, and the artisan-consciousness.

I suppose the middle line would be that we create an illusory representation of whatever reality might be. Perhaps to make it comprehensible.

a desperate attempt at …meaning.
The question is that of a meaningless reality or an uber-meaningful one.
My optimistic mind leans on the latter side.
