I’d rather fake a lack of empathy than indulging in an ostentatious demonstration of how much I care about others.
I perceive the indecency of a gesticulated display of compassion as the worst form of vulgarity.
Of course, others’ suffering may require an action on our end.
But above all, it needs to be met with respect, modesty and delicacy.
