I Had Forgotten

Along the paths of forgetfulness, I had reached the point where it had become impossible to reach out to the beginning of any genuine Way.
Along the paths of forgiveness I had reached a point where I had become unable to jump over the fence of concepts and words, had been held hostage in their sterility.

I had been sitting without sitting
I sat in posture but never embodied it.

Zazen was never dry.
My sitting was in a jail of words,
Even this : the very first step on the Way,
I had forgotten.
