Zazen is to Buddhism what Christ is to tradition.
‘The Way, the Truth, and the Life’
This is the deep meaning of Jesus’ words,
A word, neither political nor sectarian, but eminently spiritual,
The only one worth saying, eventually.
Zazen is the way
The foundation is truth and life.
The great joy, of practice-realization mentioned by Dogen
One, non-Two
Zazen is to Buddhism what Christ is to traditions.
It allows a clean slate,
And accomplishes them.
To carry out the tradition is to reveal its essence, its heart.
Bring to light what is alive in the tradition,
To hold in one’s hands, to present to the world the case that tradition conceals, protects, buries
To give birth, to bring about, to allow the presence of Beauty.

One would hope that it is not, however, the name in which oppressors act. I know too little of Buddhism to make the comparison.
