The Bird Friend at the Top of the Cherry Tree

The cherries hanging from the tree in my garden are often found in twos or threes
and, often, the reddest ones are at the top of the tree and are difficult for us humans to access.

To the bird, on the other hand, they promise a feast well protected from all predators.

By then taking a very red cherry from the top of the tree, he generally causes the others to fall on the bunch.

One is greedily eaten by the bird and the other deliciously preserved.

All we have to do from then on is to crouch and to pick it up.

Without the bird and its “cooperative harvest”, we could only, unless we put ourselves in danger, note the inaccessibility of sweet fruits.

If we were more skilled at harvesting, the bird would not be able to feed on it.

Bending down to pick up the cherry, I am happy to share the meal with the bird
