My 10 year-old son asked me if I knew that the Bible was “God speaking to me” ?
I answered I did….And specified that to be truly in harmony with this sentence, we must agree on what we mean by “God” and what the meaning of “speaking to you” is.
I believe that the deepest layers of my being resonate with the biblical text when confronted with it. For this to happen, it is necessary to unclog the clumps prohibiting or hindering any probability of encounter.
This is the role of silence. However, the push of capillary action of the “word” of “God” is sometimes such that it imposes itself on me during life situations, arrangements of existence. It is also a certain reading of the parable of the sower.
Speech and consciousness, sowing the word in an obstructed, stony configuration of our being is throwing the seed on the path,
The Word meets our deepest layers of consciousness,
As the seed does with good soil.
Apart from this, even the most generous seed cannot take root.
Consciousness is the ground offered to receive the seed of the Word.

So, is the Iliad, or the Odyssey, a « word of God? » What of The Lord of the Rings?
Are not all such words mediated by men?
Is the question, rather, whether the writer has expressed what he has found to be the divine within?

It’s the first time I’ve read you about the « divine within »….
Is it a side-effect of Christmas ?

Ye Gods, no. I have always thought that is where the divine resides for this world’s purposes.

Also,
Man-made mediation can never be sufficient to deviate the blow of the Spirit.

Is that not the point of the term « mediation »?

Please pardon me for my comment not being about your post, but I want to thank you and have linked to your blog in my latest poem « The Fate You’re Said Desperate Need » thanking you, and if you’d like me to remove it and your name in the poem no problem, but then still I thank you.

Please don’t reply to this, as there is no need to. I just want to tell you I carry you in my thoughts at times, wondering over the arc of your life, your doings and things, and you know, you make the world a warmer place for me and I imagine for a lot of people.

That is a very kind — and much needed — message for me to read these days.
Thank you Donny.
I do plan to read your poetry though
As you know I find it inspiring and much liberating / Border-breaking.
Your presence here, today and far away on other times
is making the world a warmer place to me.
A bientôt
Franck
