I’ve been pondering this.
« Revelation » – a realisation, a seeing afresh, of what was ever there, in one’s own spirit.
« Scripture » may aid, provoke (and not necessarily traditional « holy books ») but the revelation can only be within.

Can there ever a within without a without?
I think it is spiritually more harmful to overlook the within than the without.
Yet…

An expression of spirituality is only an expression. A partial indication of matters relevant to the person expressing.
It is relevant to another only if it sparks something within them.
It may, quite validly, spark nothing, or something very different to the original experience.
Not to ignore is not the same as to follow.
