A low irritability threshold is a consequence of a sharp, narrow gaze.
The wise man embraces situations from a much broader perspective.
If the details reach him, he has enough perspective so that none obstructs his internal field of vision, to the point of suffocation.

There are instances when a broad view might be less wise. I can think of politicians of whom it would be difficult to accuse of either attention to detail or wisdom. The issue, I think, is to know when each outlook is appropriate. Maybe that is wisdom?

in the case of politicians, the attention they use is molded on their underlying mind structures.
The latter following the opposite patterns of a wise mind, the form of attention which emanates thereof cannot be anything but unwise…and if they embrace the big picture, they do so as marketers dream of global penetration.

Which has little to do with being discreet in reality and is more connected to dis-crimination (here, btw large and close attention)
There’s also an art of discreet discrimination.

To use one’s discretion is to discriminate between discrete positions. There is a difference in meaning between « discreet » and « discrete » despite identical pronunciation.
Politicians are best left to wallow in their own mud bath (to put it politely) – that is correct, I think.
