I say that through the practice/achievement of zazen – simple sitting, some people weave the wicker for their own cradles.
They give themselves the means, more or less unconsciously, to embrace life.
They prepare the cradle to receive the event or rather, to receive themselves when they will be presented with such a difficult event.
Zazen is then the giving birth of oneself.
The child can only emerge into a larger world when the uterine experience, previously so sweet and fusional, has turned into a suffocating situation.
Contractions are the difficulties encountered before the practice of sitting.

I suppose, to put it another way, to empty oneself is to prepare for fulness of life experienced?
