If the memory of a slice of past life, or the ephemeral display on the screen of consciousness of a lived moment allows the emergence of a feeling of nostalgia, it is because these elements have been artificially emptied of what then constituted the issues of the moments in question.
These have either been forgotten, or are considered in the light of current problems as minor (which they are perhaps relatively, but, in absolute terms, the psychological space which occupied the problems of yesteryear is just as important as that which our modern ruminations invest).
Thus, nostalgia is always artificial, it is the result of an optical illusion (“chronological illusion”).
of a telescoping between two realities which has no reason to exist, in the same way that we only compare elements sharing common characteristics,
5>1, not 8> red, which means nothing.
Nostalgia is the result of a zealous mutatis mutandis that enters the equation so quickly that we don’t even notice it.
Proof of this is that in 20 years, I will be just as nostalgic for the present moment as I am feeling today in regards to a state I experienced 20 years ago.
Does the illusion of knowledge of a past situation enable nostalgia?
I think I know the situation and the ‘protagonist’ of 20 years ago from my current vantage point in life.
Also : is apprehension then nostalgia for the future ?

What is the relationship between nostalgia and regret? I suspect it is close, the former being a symptom of the latter. No regrets. They are a denial of our present.
