Gehenna and Paradise

« That Day, man will remember, »

The esoteric understanding of the Last Judgment is an opening to deep consciousness,
a laying bare of all the layers of being.

Man is then faced with himself, he sees himself as he is
The last judgment is then an awakening to the whole of one’s being, a resorption of the thick clouds of unconsciousness which obscured both our deep nature (« God reveals himself to us »).
and the real characteristics of our soul (“our actions, words, thoughts and their consequences ».)
Gehenna, the fire of suffering, what is it?

It is what happens when we are given to see this reality of our being when only one of the prisms of justification no longer holds, when all the veils and arguments in the service of the ego have been torn, when the pillars and were of makeshift in the parts of our being are removed.

Gehenna is this landslide which occurs when artifices are dissolved by the light of truth (divine knowledge).

In the midst of all this,
God is mercy, the Scriptures tell us.

God is mercy,
Mercy is God.

The face to face with the reality of our being thanks to a withdrawal of the soul is in itself the opportunity for a surge of mercy, an understanding beyond the arguments and justifications.

Mercy is the embrace,
Salvation with its back against Gehenna.
For all the veils of the soul must be burned,
let all props and pillars be dissolved,
that the ground has slipped under the feet of the accused at the Judgment,
so that mercy can be welcomed.

Without this, man will always hide under a veil or behind a pillar.
(Bush in the Garden of Eden where Man withdraws when God lets him understand the consequences of his actions)

God is mercy,
Mercy is God,

By the grace of this withdrawal,
By this judgment,
When Man ceases to retreat,
He can enter into mercy, enter into God,
enter paradise, land of truth and harmony

What fuels these protean reflexes of entrenchments (veils, props, bushes)
if not the ego?
The hell of confinement in these superficial layers of consciousness.

    1. Are you suggesting heaven and hell are always now and self engineered ?
(I sometimes agree with this understanding, and forget it on other times…that two-step movement may as well be the manufacturing power to both heaven and hell…)

      1. I, obviously, need to proofread better before I post…!

Yes, that is one way of looking at it. Also, that our « greater self/selves » encompass both.

« I sent my soul through the invisible,
        Some letter of that afterlife to spell;
And, by and by, my soul returned to me,
And whispered, I, myself, am heaven and hell. »

      2. Beautiful.
        It looks like sufi poetry.

I’ve noticed that when ‘myself’ is involved,
        hell’s what’s around the corner
        While paradise awaits somewhere deeper
        for my self to ‘decrease’
        (John 3, 30)
