Consider the beginning of the prayer: “Our Father, who art in heaven..”
…we have already recalled in other pages of these digital notebooks, the double meaning of the term translated by « heavens » (at the same time, as the sky above our heads and a spiritual landscape of inner life)
So it is not heretical to suggest a translation like “our father who is within us.”
We can also point out that « heaven » in Jesus’ prayer is plural,
and includes here all the heavens, all the directions, all the lands beyond, all the worlds.
At the same time, this divine location is also the vector of an association between God and the sky making it possible to emphasize the vast, infinite character, in its understanding, (compassionate, merciful) being in its comprehensibility – elusive, unconceptualizable, its greatness –
If ‘our father’ is the infinite ‘heaven’, he is also each of those who reside underneath the heavens.
God, our Father, understands, includes (« comprehends ») each of us.
