Our sitting practice teaches the place of silence;
It puts silence back in its place.
It allows the work of distancing the oppressive content, or invisible when too close.
Silence is the void that allows the existence of the full.
Silence allows the relationship to oneself
The relationship to oneself allows the quest to begin.
Without silence, nothing.
Silence is the sky parting from the earth,
The Spirit between man and God.
Silence is a breath that inflates the sail of the heart
And allows the boat to set in motion.
Silence initiates the end of chaos
Silence is the engine of the story of our soul.
The meaning, the direction, the destination and the path,
Silence is the path,
Silence invites itself into you at each sitting,
Each sitting offers a body of incarnation to the flashes of silence.

« Without silence, nothing. » – love the paradoxical quality of this line (because, you know, with silence there is nothing…) Linda 🙂

Thank you Linda for taking the time to read and comment.
I’d be lying if I said it was intended.

That’s the beauty of poetry – words always grow their meanings… they are always more than intended! L xx

Silence, in this context, strikes me as not the absence of extrinsic noise, but a quietness of spirit in face of that.

…Which makes space for silence even amidst our noisy world…
