Dogen is only the positive counterpart of the hundreds of biblical and Koranic verses, of all the texts that seem to brandish the threat of fire for anyone who does not follow the recommendations.
Dogen’s « practice-realization » is offered as a perfect corollary, a positive mirror of « disbelief-punishment ».
Not two –stroke
two stroke is an illusion,
temporality is an illusion
He who sits in silence is a realized being.
He who believes in the divine signs, sees God, is at the heart of the Garden of Eden,
He who does not sit
Is in the wheel of illusion
He who does not see the signs
is prey to the most « vile torments »

Well, Dogen is pretty impenetrable, but I suppose that amounts to requiring us to « see for ourselves ».
The texts are tools of control. Dogen of freedom, perhaps.
