Praying as one quits smoking

In the first degrees of prayer, it is done in the same way that a smoker seeking to get away from his addiction will chew an ear of wheat, licorice, a twig or chewing gum,
Prayer is what we put in our heads so as not to leave room for automatic thoughts,
Moreover, when we feel like smoking, chewing a stick of licorice can be very effective.

The question is not then that of our relationship with licorice or the debate on the most appropriate brand of chewing gum, the question is to deal with the priority: quitting smoking.

Also, whatever the means by which we will have put an end to omnipresent and totalitarian thoughts, the priority is the investigation of consciousness.

  1. Well, I do not, and have never, smoked. Nor do I vape. So, part of this is outside my experience.

I do have a strange habit of inserting a dry, peppermint teabag in the bowl of a tobacco pipe and sucking air through it. No fire involved. The result is a pleasant peppermint taste with no sugar to rot my teeth! But, hardly addictive.

Which is your point, I suppose. The mind, addicted to stray, random thought and chatter, and how to silence it.
