The paradigm of Zen is so simple that we sometimes forget the sacredness of each sitting,
The vertigo of each prostration,
The awakening under each step,
The practice of Zen is so simple that we sometimes come,
and spoil everything.
Maybe that’s why all other religions, in a certain approach, are so complicated?
They weave through their meshes of beliefs and rituals, a softer net so that the believer cannot fall through into oblivion.
Zen has no safety net,
At every moment,
The disciple’s life is at stake,
At every step, he offers everything
Each inclination, he embraces the world,
Because he has nothing, the disciple bets everything

I am more cynical. Religions create rules to control. Zen, by your description, should eschew the name, as that which is named becomes systematic, and will create rules. To control.

Your signature makes me think of a book I once….well…intended to read but did not.
It was titled ‘anarchrist’.
There definitely is some wilderness and independence of thought in Christ’s teaching.
I also came across a reference which made me think of anarchy…in Jugges, 21, 25
In those days Israel had no king; everyone did as they saw fit…
Sounds like a nice mood.

never pretended there was…
It’s all about rediscovering what is.
Which comes, when it does.
There is a time for everything.
