Truly, for the authentic disciple, fake intoxication, that which is induced by ingestion, inhalation of addictive substances, generally strong (alcohol, cigarettes, etc.), has no place, and I understand here the traditional instructions given to the one who engages on the path, aiming to keep the disciple away from such substances. I understand it on 2 levels:
-That of uselessness: it is vain to seek access to such substances since each element of reality, each smell, taste, touch, its look, is a source of wonder and intense hope to the spirit of the man who initiated the quest, the investigation of consciousness.
-That of spiritual warning: each intake, ingestion, inhalation of harmful, addictive substances, will distance the practitioner a little more from the opportunity of an inner encounter, of an experience of authentic intoxication on the path.

I have seen alternative ideas. That some substances (itoxicants) can free one from inhibition. Or that it is all irrelevant. What enters the body does not defile the man.
I’m not sure any one view is entirely correct.

Yes, I have read about those altenative views as well ….in any case I believe the risk is always too high when the natural version of consciousness awakening is available.
And where it is not available, there has to be a reason for such an impossibility in that place and time…Forcing open a closed door is not a good idea.
