Consciousness and Rice Paper

The layers of consciousness are like layers of rice paper on the windows.
We pierce them one by one, or all at once in the process of investigating consciousness.

More politely? We can open the doors they cover and enter the next room.
This is more respectful of conventions (practices, religious acts)
and does not disrupt the social environment that is then ours, nor exclude us from it.

However, the path taken is the same. We pass to the other side of the paper screen,
without making too much noise.

When I was younger, I only knew the breaking through method as a means of crossing and considered the sliding of doors and partitions as a mistaken mannerism.
Today, in the light of middle age, I understand the child and the latter’s interest.

Yet, today, I still try to break through the paper partitions, to pass through them one by one.
What difference does it make? And who could it possibly bother?
No one can see me, anyway.
