Welcoming, Letting Go

Zazen creates the space to welcome internal and external phenomena.
Zazen creates the space to let them go.

The narrow space creates the reaction to internal and external phenomena.
At their emergence and at their ebb.

The more extensive the practice, the more opportunity is given to space to expand.
Just an observable trend, not an absolute rule.

Ten thousand hours of practice, still this suffocation at the slightest phenomenon.
No frequentation of the cushion, and a flash of lightning bursting forth when the phenomenon emerges or fades.

These two configurations are evenly observed.

    1. Expectations as attachment to an outcome… Attempts at harnessing reality, bridling it into our world view.

That is an issue we have with the « path »: it is hard to follow a path without anticipation.
