Primary Belief

We must never underestimate the possibility that, behind the rejection of a given practice, text, or belief as primary, exoteric, etc. ..what often hides is our inability to hear what is being said in all its depth, as well as a reflex of identification through rejection.

  1. In the end, texts are nothing more than stepping stones from which the understanding can proceed. The problem is that, within the religious context, there is a tendency to restrict the directions in which the understanding may proceed.

Sometimes, a text may become so tainted for a given individual, that it loses all value.

And it is well for such a person to reject that text. There are always other points from which they can proceed, with greater assurance.

    1. I do agree with you on the limitating effect of prisms imposed by religious authorities…
I can also understand the need for containment.
It only take an articulate man with a bit of aura to spread the most erroneous perspectives on a teaching.

    2. I think I know what individual you are alluding two in your second paragraph…
Do you not think that, such a person, once he understands his loss of interest is ascribable to restriction processe that have certainlyl been over calibrated, may reconsider his position ?

    1. This is what I typed earlier this morning…

« ‘Not to the point of departure’… Of course.
Breathing space is deeper than all points of departure.
Otherwise there would only be circular tracks of stagnation and no spiritual path. »

      you see…not much of a deal…
