My soul guides me, directs me towards this insight:
The tradition I respect the most can only be the one that most respects other traditions.
The expression of this tradition will be the one that demonstrates the greatest capacity for gratitude towards the other expressions of this tradition:
Great gratitude: it is in this sense that God is great,
This is why God is God,
This is what makes God God.

I remain unconvinced that « tradition » (if taken to mean an established belief system and associated practices) is ever worthy of more than being abandoned.
Perhaps that is the ultimate respect.

There is also a capital T version of the word.
The small case one is not interesting, I agree.
