It is often the peripheral energies that « work » you.
They are the furthest from the core of your being, and yet they work on your body, night and day. They stir up your anger and desires, seeking access to this core of existence.
They push you to investigate dead-end areas, and if you let yourself be drawn in, you’ll waste your resources (time, money, attention).
And if the peripheral nature of these energies hasn’t dawned on you, it’s certainly because you’re still too far up the path of time.
Age, the aging process, illuminates their secondary nature, and the feeling of having to respond to the screaming calls of these peripheral energies is specific to this section of the path of existence you’re on.
The day will come when you realize that what calls to your senses is actually the ends of the shreds of clothing you’re wearing. They’re on fire.
Flames and light constantly invite themselves into your gaze and seem to want to direct everything.
When night falls and the path has disappeared from your sight, they can even become your only guide.
One morning, you will see these shreds of rags fall off of their own accord when the rags in question no longer have any fabric to offer in combustion.
What seemed to want to devour you, what told you a thousand times to leave everything behind,
All those figures you thought you were, nothing will be left.
The disoriented energies will be extinguished, fallen away, and your listening will go to the radiant center, what you have in reality always been.
This is expressed on the professional, relational, and spiritual levels: a similar movement of abandonment, of extinction of peripheral energies.

An active periphery (the demands we make of ourselves through desires and folly) as against the stillness concealed in the heart?
