Dis-Appointment

Consider the worst disappointment you’ve ever had to face,
Remember the violence of the effect of such revelation,
How then has the ‘taken for granted’ crumbled down under your feet ?
Good…

Now consider the following perspective: isn’t it, eventually, a terribly banal phenomenon, something that happens several hundreds of times a day, on the scale of humanity and with regard to the history of Man ?

The next step, I don’t quite master it yet, but I feel that it is intertwined with last lashes from the previous one: it deflates the disappointment to an acceptable level and makes this experience of acute and personal pain, an event capable of entering the field of the universal.

It blunts the edges that cause the suffering by placing the victim that was once on the rim of the abyss of loneliness, in a position to grow, to gain depth, to spread the amplitude of their wings and fly towards other landscapes.

This dis-intensification enables dis-identification and unclogs the path of compassion.

  1. Not so sure that perspective, of itself, deals with issues such as disappointment. It does not so much remove the desire, which seems to me to be that which gives immunity, but masks the effects, like a sort of esoteric paracetamol.

I think I’d rather the immunity – to stand outside of such relativistic perspectives.

    1. ‘esoteric paracetamol’
      Brilliant.
It may also be a transitory solution so as to be able to alleviate some of the most painful aspects of the experience and consider it in a broader perspective,
from which they can figure out immunization processes.

      So I’ve been told….
I must admit I’m not a good believer in multi step solutions, when it come to spirituality.
Haven’t we had enough of all those engineers, designers, step by step planners…
(this is certainly a lack of wisdom on my end, remnants of a wild and impatient thirst : a ‘desire’ for liberation.

    1. Systems equals control.
Any system needs to discriminate between what fits and what doesn’t fit its definitions.
When definitions keep changing, individuals go crazy.
Systems always provide its individuals pool with an expression of antisystem, where they can all honestly believe they are not part of it, while being in reality totally swallowed by this system.
By definition, a system is unified, unique.
It cannot be otherwise. this aspect is very attractive to profiles who are psychologically broken, divided / not unified (not ‘individualized’) : they are enthusiast about finding a system (political, religious…) which offers a solution to their divided being.
One could even suggest that it is in the system’s best interest to always further divide its members’ personalities so as to make them even more relying on the solutions they provide.
My personal opinion is that it is what we are given to observe in the latest twists of events on the societal scene… (I don’t think I need to be more specific here, do I ?)

I don’t know how this answer accurately connect to our earlier discussion of the ‘root’ post below which it is written, as I can’t access it at the moment.
If it doesn’t, let’s pretend it to be a creative spin-off.
(Don’t you call this game ‘exquisite corpse » in the UK, literally translating the French way to refer to it ( cadavre exquis) ?

      Bye Simon,
Let’s never make this anti systemic vision a system.

      1. Neither had I…
        I looked it up.
It refers to the game where each participant adds another word to a sentence without any knowledge of what’s been written before they receive the paper.
The end result can be very creative or funny.
        Sometimes, purely nonsensical.
The name stems from the cost people who played the game and refers to the very first words that were written on their folded paper stripe.
        An obscene oxymoron.
(If I remember.correctly, these were artists from the ‘this is a pipe’ scene, an art movement whose name has slipped my mind)
