Placing Your Hands in God’s Water

There is a very strong link between belief and need.
What I believe is a reflection of what I need.

Under the terms behind which this belief is expressed, lays the need of the one in whom it takes form.

And behind the need, the original suffering: that on which the need came to be molded.
Belief is a superficial scar. The need, a coagulation on a gaping wound.

I’m thinking of Pascal here: “In the heart of man, there is a hole in the shape of God.”

The need-belief structure, however aesthetic and soothing it may be, cannot erase existential suffering.

Existence is a cry for help,
Living is a call to God,

Life and experience calling the Breath
Again, under the crust of need-belief.
The breath heals, by not healing.
This is mysterious,

Intimate wedding, secret stream
Flowing from the top of the alcove
On your knees, place your hands in the water of God.
